Howdy from Charleston!

Hi everybody!

I'm Zack. I'm pretty new to costuming. I got started because my kid wanted to be Grogu for Halloween last year, and insisted I dress up as Din Djarin. So I decided to build my own armor — how hard can it be right?! :D I did complete the armor in time for Halloween, and seeing the suit finally come together was such an endorphin rush it got me hooked.

I'm now working on a Tusken Raider mask, with hopes of building a full costume.

I'd love to connect with anyone who's built a Tusken before. And look forward to getting to know the rest of y'all, too.

Welcome to the Garrison Academy. We have a couple of Tuskens in our garrison and TJ is working to get an advisor assigned to help you out with the process. I would suggest also joining the Krayt Clan Detachment (https://www.kraytclan.net/forum/) as they have a whole section devoted to the construction of Tusken Raiders.

Hi Zack! As Michel mentioned, I'm currently working with our advisor staff to get you assigned to someone to help you with answering questions, etc. with the build process. Once we have someone assigned, I will create a build thread for you and post a link to it here. There you can ask questions about the costume, show progress updates, etc.

Each approvable costume in the 501st have a "CRL" which stand for Costume Reference Library. This is essentially a visual guide of the overall costume, photos of individual components, and text descriptions for each. It is important to stress that these reference documents are not detailed costume construction how-to's. How-to information can be obtained from each of the Detachment forums. In the case of a Tusken, would be the krayclan.net site mentioned in Michel's post above (https://www.kraytclan.net/forum/).

For Tusken Raiders, this specific costume appears in several shows/movies and each costume is slightly different. Take a look at these variations and let us know which one you'd like to focus on. This will aid your advisor when providing build advice and sourcing costume parts, etc.

Based on the start of your mask it looks like your building a male variant that will fit one of these four CRLs.
If you have any immediate questions, let us know.

Welcome again!

Be careful, Zack. This can be addictive. :)

Welcome to the Garrison Zack!
One of the best things about having a 501st costume is dressing up year round and not having to wait for Halloween. Of course, I still absolutely love Halloween. :D

Once you are a full member, you can sign up your little for Galatic Academy so they can join in on the fun with you. We engage in costumes for the whole family and everything that comes with the community - patches, coins, in addition to events.

Also, would you happen to be the Zack Harold that works for WVU Extension?

Zack, you've been assigned to Tolga as your advisor. He has a 501st approved Tusken and experience with the build process. You will be in good hands. Be sure to take a look at your build thread and post as you have updates: viewtopic.php?t=1250
