Greetings y'all!
I've always been a Star Wars geek, and think it's lots of fun in general. I've been aware of the 501st for a while, and always dreamed of doing a TK Stormtrooper, but never bit the bullet and went for it. Last year my girlfriend decided that we were going to do Gomez and Morticia for Halloween, and I immediately decided that this year we were doing something Star Wars related. While browsing the interwebs, I came across a Director Krennic costume on Amazon and decided that was the route I wanted to go. Purchased it, opened the box, and was immediately disappointed in the quality of the kit. But hey, what did I expect? The one thing that really bothered me was the fact that the rank bar was embroidered, and the white stitching for the velcro backing was going through blue and red rank tabs...completely unacceptable. I started down the rabbit hole of making it look a little more realistic.
Now I've got a rank bar, real dosimeters, the correct hat pin, gloves, and a belt on the way.
I think I've made a glorious, GLORIOUS mistake in starting down this path. I'm going to stick with the costume for Halloween this year (girlfriend is going as Rey, I couldn't convince her to go a Jyn Erso), but I'm also immediately on the search for the correctly made tunic and Jodhpur trousers...with the cape and boots going to come shortly after.
